A Merlin telephone, being fed from a 410 controller. How many pairs are used between the telephone and the controller? Using the Merlin eight conductor what colors are being used.

All 4 pairs are used. If the intercom feature isn't needed, 3 pairs would work (no BR/WH).

At minimum 3 pairs (W/Bl, W/Or, W/Gn) are needed to operate a Merlin phone. The 4th pair (W/Br) is used for off-hook voice announce.
