Merlin Sta-10 ADMIN Button Problem 3

Merlin 820: I am using buttons 1-4 on teh left side of the BIS-10. On the right I am using buttons for DND, PRIV, REDIAL, PAGE ALL and the last one on the bottom right for a speed dial to their Sprint voice mail.

This is working ok on all sets except for 10. When I try to program that button it goes into ADMIN mode and complains.

How can I program that button to Auto-Dial 474-1161.

Extension 10 is supposed to be the "operator" position - and entering admin mode is what that button is for. Either get a phone with more buttons for the "operator" extension - like a BIS-22 or better yet, a BIS-34 (which is what you are supposed to use for the "operator" position) - or forget about trying to program that specific button.

Go to the 820 Control unit and slide the switch from Admin to Normal. This should allow you to program that button. I do agree with Tom, you should be using a 34-button phone for an operator console. I'm not 100% this will work, it's been so long since the Classic 820 days...it may just give an error tone denying Admin since the switch is now in Normal mode.

On the 820 I can only see the Power On and Off button on the face of it. Were would the Admin button be located on the control unit?

there is no switch on the 820 ,that item is on the 1030 merlin, it's like tom said the admin button is that only on a 820

Thy are only using a few stations sets. So I will just do as you all suggest and assign these station users to stations 11 on up and reserve the 10 ( Recp) station for myself in the phone room. It is always nice to have a set in the phone room.
