The boss wants me to install and configure a PRI for one of our Merlins. I've done a PRI config before, but it was about 8 years ago and I really can't remember how to accomplish the task.
I was wondering if someone might be able to help?

Set for B8ZS ESF and Wink Start

i have 3 pilot numbers form the CO and I think that thay might be the point to numbers?

23 are to be set up as 2-way and the 24th will be the D-channel.

He would like to have it set up for DIDs also. The PRI will be sending me 4 digits, but I cannot remember how to make the connection from the PRI to the DID extension number on the system.

Do I need to place in all the full DID numbers somewhere? If they are extensions on the system will the PRI and system just send it to the phone as default?

Sorry if I sound a bit lost, but I really could use a hand.

Thanks for any assistnce that you might be able to give.

Lots of stuff needs to be programmed for PRI.

As far as the number you need to route with, it depends on what the telco is sending you.

In your case 4 is what they are sending.

SO, are your extensions 4 digts?

Do they match what's being sent?

PRI has to be set up for CUSTOM (Based on the CO THEY use), not NATIONAL.

The extensions are set up as 4 digits.

They do match what is being sent.

It seems as if I am not catching everything that needs to be programmed. Can you please lead me along the steps to take?

As for the PRI set-up, thank you for reminding me that the PRI for a Merlin switch has to be custom.

OK, for starters, here's a picture of one after it was programmed:

Note that in the SPECIAL SERVICE TABLE, we change the default for pattern 5 to delete ZERO, other wise, you have to dial 1 twice for LD.

Also look at DIAL PLAN ROUTING TABLE 0 (as an example) - Here we have 4 digits coming to us, 1871, and we DELETE ALL 4 and then add 420 to route the 1871 INCOMING to EXTENSION 420.

IF you know what they are sending, then this should make it clear.

If you check under the faq's, you will find a good overview to get you started.

Looking to see how to make a number on the PRI go to the auto atten. on a merlin messaging system.

Create an AA CLASS of Mailbox in the Mail, and POINT a D-I-D (or PRI PATTERN) to it.

That answer struck me 10 minutes after I posted. :(

I also figured out once I did this that it had to be an extension located on the system or in the UDP.

Since the PRI hits the system first and then gets transferred to the voicemail, a phantom mailbox did not work.

Thanks for the advice and the help.

Still having an issue.

When I call in from the outside on one of the new DID numbers, it does not go to the proper extension unless I strip 4 digits and add the same 4 digits back.

I know I must be missing something.

You will need at least one entry in the dial plan routing table so the system knows what to do with the digits.

Here is an example:
DID's: 2000 - 2199

Code:
Entry Number: 0
NtwkServ: Any service
Expected Digits: 4
Pattern to Match: 2
Digits to Delete: 0
Digits to Add: 0

The PRI is completed and working fine except for one thing, the client cannot make 800 alls from their location.
I haven't checked in the ARS routing for restrictions yet, but is there something in the PRI programming that might cause this issue?

Who's the VENDOR?

I think it was a SPRINT that wouldn't allow 800 calls on their service.

Thus, you would have to build an ARS table to steer them out over a regular old POTS Line.

Yep, problem was with the vendor.
Thanks.

The PRI is now shwoing D-channel slips.
The signalling is correct, B8ZS and ESF, what could be wrong?
I am receiveing b8ZS and ESF from the carrier. I am also on the correct switch, DMS 100.
