Merlin Plus and Classic Mail problem

We have just connected a "Classic mail" system to our merlin Plus system. Overall it works fine, but when transferring outside incoming calls to an extension (intercom #), after four rings with no answer, it bounces back instead of going into the extension's voicemail. It doesn't appear to do it on all extensions, nor all the time. It does seem to do it when the caller hits "zero" and then the attendant transfers the call. What gives?

The VM ports emulate 34 button phones. You have to make sure the "buttons" are programmed correctly using a real 34 button phone.

So I only need one 34 button phone or do they all need to be? If only one, do I need to program each port using the 34 button and then can plug the 22 button into it?

Anyplace you know of that I can get one reasonably priced besides eBay?

Page 23 shows how the ports need to be set up.

You only need 1 BIS34D phone and only actully need it for a few minutes.
