Would it be possible to route 3 digit extensions out 1 merlin and into another over a centrex pri? IE, have a user dial ext. 320 which grabs a pri channel, sends 320 to the pri carrier then receive the 320 on the other side. The receive part should be no problem, it's the send that I'm worried about. I've always sent Non local udp to a point to point, so don't know if I could use that programming to grab a PRI trunk. Also, can you use DISA to page the other side? Im trying to eliminate the need for the point to point T-1, and replace it with a PRI on both sides. Or should I just say NO! Thanks

The system has the ability to use Centrex Features, but in all my years of working on it and supporting it, I can't recall ever having a request for supporting Centrex. I would think the reason is that Centrex became VERY PRICEY about the time the Legend was introduced. (We did a lot with it back in the 1030//3070 time frame.)

In theory, you can't just dial 320 and have it route to a given pool, because 320 (or 321, 322 and so on) could be the leading digits of an outside number.

However, you could create a route that recognized a unique set of leading digits, stripped them off, and then output the remainder over the PRI.

For example Client at location (A) would dial 555320, the 555 would be recognized and stripped and the 320 would be sent.

As far as paging, I tried it from the outside world back into a system and experienced HORRIBLE Feedback. (Impedance mismatch?)

I did use DISA, so we know the connectivity part is possible.

You will just have to see if it causes problems with the paging itself.

Using the CENTREX feature set may just do it for you, it would take a bit of research.

Let me throw out another thought. The CENTREX Feature gives every extension it's own CENTREX Number. When a call is originated, an extension can dial the (in your case) 3 Digit Centrex number or 9 + an outside number.

The question is; Does your client have Centrex now or not?

Currently I have 2 Magix' network via a point to point T-1 using a non-local UDP, so no there isn't centrex there now. I was trying to find another alternative to having the expensive point to point, as the carrier can provide PRI's at both locations with centrex. A sales guy sold them on a solution that would replace the P2P with a VPN. That won't work, so they are trying to find an alternative with me in the middle. Sounds like we aren't going to be able to mimic the P2P so I think I'm just gonna say no.

There may be a way to do this with PRI ISDN Centrex, if all the station DID numbers are in a "commom block", and you have the Centrex dial plan shared between PRI circuits, provided they are served from the same CO switch. On the PRI 9 would be required, unless some other arrangement is possible. You need to discuss this with the service provider to find out what flexibilities are available.

If you can get a VPN between sites, get 2 T-1 to IP gateway/converters and ride over the VPN. The Magix sees it as a PRI so no reprogramming needed.
