Hi,

I have an Avaya Magix 4.0 system w/ Merlin Messaging 4.0. The system works perfectly, and the entire voicemail system works great.. with one exception: No matter what I try, I cannot get it to delay answer at all. It always picks up on the 1st ring on all lines that are associated with it. I have followed every written instruction I can find, and it always picks up on the first ring.

Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks, Steve.

For Delayed Answering on a Merlin Messaging, the drill is:

Remove the lines (or pools) from the Voice Mail Calling Group (770, or whatever you dial to log into voice mail)

Assign the lines (or pools) to an unused Calling Group (I personally use 791, the last 3-digit calling group, just make sure to label it something like "DLYAA" so you can remember it later)

Program 791 to overflow to 770, based on 99 for Number Based Overflow, and aprox. 5 seconds per ring for Time Based Overflow (so for 4 rings, set it to 20 seconds)

In Merlin Messaging, create Mailbox 791, and assign it to the Auto Attendant (2 for Extensions, 791# for the Extension Number, 3 to assign it as an Auto Attendant, then 1, 2, 3, or 4 for whichever Auto Attendant should answer)

Thanks Tommy and Dexman...

This is what I tried per the documentation on the Messaging CD. I may have done something incorrectly though, so I will restore to just prior to that attempt, re-do it, and see what happens. I will get back to you both and update you.

Thanks again for your help!

Steve.

Hi TTT[medal] and Dexman[medal],

In going over this in the Magix, I did the procedure you recommended again, but to no avail. Your suggestions, however, prompted me to review all of the programming and I discovered I had accidentally assigned the voice lines to the Messaging ports as Personal Lines... DOH! [surprise]

Thanks again for your help.. [thumbsup]This forum ROCKS!![thumbsup]
