There used to be a message on the display of the phone that stated how many new and how many old messages an extension had. This has disappeared from a few of the phones at my client's site.

Is there a way to get this message back?

My memory is a fuzzy on this one, but extensions that were put into a particular Calling Group had the old and new message count displayed. I can't remember the specifics though

It's supposed to just work.

I would re-boot the Merlin Messaging and see if that fixes it.

It has been working. It just has disappeared from a few of the extensions.
I will reboot the VM.
If that desn't work, should I try deleting and rebuilding a vm box that isn't currently showing the display?

Reboot the Magix itself along with the Merlin Messaging, and make sure the extensions are in the VM Coverage Group.

Rebooted and all is right with the world again.
Would a quick brown out have caused the issue in the first place?

MURPHY appears any time to do this stuff! Equipping the system with a UPS can reduce those types of issues...
