Greetings! I have a Magix system that my customer requested UMA Application to be installed. I have the UMA installed and working. The messaging system gets the Voice-Mail into an email and sends them. But the messages never get sent. The messages are in the Holding folder of the UMA application. I am trying to use gmail.com for my SMTP server and I am stuck at this point. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks/Quaz

I have personally never gotten UMA to work unless the client had an on-site exchange server. I doubt it will work with gmail. Your best bet might be to install an smtp server on-site and point it to that.

Telecomboy,

Looks like the no matter what port I set in the SMTP app that comes with UMA, the log shows I get to smtp server on port 25. Comcast uses 465 and gmail 587, I believe.

Is there any way to change this port setting? Could you recommend an SMTP server?

Quaz

Now that you say that, I think that was the issue I ran into. I don't think you can change the port from 25. I know on the IP Office, people use hmail server as an smtp. I have never personally tried with the Magix, but it is free so it could be worth a shot.

Have you used Hmail server. Can you use it as an intermediary application and then forward using Hmail and the correct ports?

Quaz

I haven't. With the IPO there are other options. I haven't dealt with UMA and a Magix in long time so it is a bit foggy on my mind.

I got the computer using the UMA to go to correct smtp server and port by using the router to redirect smtp port. Problem now, I believe, is that all the mail servers want authentication going out now. Does any one know a way around this problem?

Quaz

Look into using stunnel as an intermediary.

I used it on an old application at our firehouse, and it worked.
