I have a Merlin Magix PBX with a Merlin Messaging. The manual in a slightly convaluted manor states that this IVM system can provide it's own delayed announcement service, however I'm having a great deal of trouble setting it up. I'm looking for assistance on how to successfully configure the Merlin Messaging to preform delayed announcements for a clients holding in a direct call group. I'm currently performing this operation at other clients using a Lucent 15a dad, however if the Merlin Messaging can provide this solution, it would be far more cost effective.

The messaging is a merlin messaging release 2.5 and the magix is a processor rev 2.0

OK, on your particular system you can do what you want. All Merlin Messaging 2.5's have 12 physical ports. You can have delay announcements on (12-(the number of voice mail ports)). Each can be programmed as a primary or secondard announcement. It's something that can be a little tedious, so best advice is to look at the HTML file on the Messaging CD. It tells about the settings for both the Messaging and the Magix interface. The only real trick was on the Magix, under group calling, and delay announcements, select the primary or secondary announcement, and (get this) the SPM interface actually gives an explanation for what it is doing. Here is where you link a physical port on the messaging to an announcement on the messaging module. The calling group used for your queue must be set as an integrated VMI typ too, I believe. The main rule is that you have one port for one announcement, but they are all configurable. It's pretty slick once set up, but like I said, a little tedious at first. (Ever hear that before?)
