Its been a long time but I know there is a code you can dial to access the modem in Merlin Messaging so you can use hyperterm to print out all of the programming. MM R4. In the older systems you dialed port 12 but I think in R2.5 and later you dialed like a * or ** code followed by a number. Anyone know?

Thanks,

Hello all,

Excuse my ignorance about this Merlin Messaging modem at **3. I have worked as a remote tech on these system for a while and I have never heard of this modem. Is dphoneguy24 referring to a Merlin Mail?

Can someone post more info about this? Do I access the admin menu and dial **3?

Thanks...

No (the **3) - is for remote modem access to a Magix/Merlin Messaging module or an 007 MLM. The Merlin Mail requires a seperate "Remote Maintenance Device" - which is basically a standalone modem connected to the Merlin Mail and an open slot on an 012 or 016 Tip/Ring module. The first voicemail with a built-in modem was the MLM 007 (Merlin Legend Mail). All of the Magix/Merlin Messaging modules have a built-in modem - accessed the same way (**3). Technically, the Magix messaging modules require a port license card to be installed for the modem access to work - but I am not sure it is really required.

And yes, I was wrong - to access the modem on a Merlin Legend Mail (007 MLM), you dial/transfer to the 7th port extention number. Well I forget - it is either the 7th, 9th or 12th port extention number - old age I guess. It is listed in the manual.

Thanks exsmogger - I knew at least one of them was right. Does anyone know if a port license card is trully required to access the modem via **3 in a Merlin/Magix Messaging? or can it be accessed without one installed?
