Merlin Messaging asks for extn when playing message 1

I have a site where they insisted on the name of the person showing up when they transferred to an extn. The name wouldn't show up even though it was in the directory labeling, the only thing i could figure out was because it didn't have a phone and was configured on a digital port. I moved the extn to a adjunct port, and now the name shows up, but when the user logs into his voicemail it will tell him he has 2 old messages, he presses 2 to listen to them and it plays the header and when he presses 0 to listen to the message is asks him for an extn. Any ideas? i tried setting the extn to has a phone and it didn't help. i tried moving the extn back to the old port and that didn't help either.

Try pressing *D after hitting 2 to listen. I have seen where it records a system greeting as a message in a box so the listener thinks it is asking for their extension when in actuality that is message that has somehow been recorded in their mailbox.
