I have been told by a AVAYA tech that a 100DCD card cannot be in a slot next to the Merlin Messaging do to heat, and this was why my 100DCD went bad. Was told that this was a known fact, but cannot find this known fact anywhere on the AVAYA web site. Has anyone seen or know of any documentation on this Thank You Mike

OK, which AVAYA tech said this?

Does he have a NAME?

AND - is this person a TIER 3 Engineer?

You should have them quote the ESCALATION NUMBER and/or CASE NUMBER that says this is a problem.

They should also be able to email you something OFFICIAL that says this is the problem.

It is my understanding that the issue is usually more of a UNIT LOAD issue than a HEAT issue.

Let us know what you find.

OK, I don't have any documentation on this, but when I would do tech work for Lucent SC's, (which has been a while, seeing as this was before the Business Partner program), the SC's told me that I shouldn't put a Merlin Mail (007MLM) next to a 100DCD because of RFI. Even if the power units were OK. They would always put some type of card between them, or put them in seperate cabinets.

I doubt that there was any written policy on this, and it may have been based purely on urban legend, but that is what they did.
