Merlin Messaging AA Problem?

Okay I have a Magix system with a Merlin Messaging module installed. AA1 covers line 802 and AA2 covers lines 803 and 804. The AA's pick up fine and do their jobs. The dial 0 timeout action is transfer to system operator which is extension 100. Extension 100 has a primary coverer which is a cordless on extension 148. If ext 148 is busy or no one answers box 100 should pick up and allow for a message to be left. When calling in on these outside lines, pressing 0 rings at both 100 and 148. If no one answers, box 100 never picks up. It just rings and rings. Yes, 100 is in the cover group 30 for the mail.

If someone dials 0 from within the system, both 100 and 148 ring and goes to box 100 after about 5 rings.

Why is ringing from lines not going to mail and inside calls are? I really need to get this one nailed down fast. Help!!

Is 148 in cover group 30? If not, put it in there. An outside call will not go to voicmeial until the assigned coverage is exhausted. If 148 is not covered by voicemail, it will just ring there until it is answered or the outside caller hangs up.

Yes, 148 is in the group 30. Any other ideas?

Did you set a primary cover delay for 148 covering 100? You should set it to a reasonable number of rings - remembering that it will ring 100 first x times, then 148 y times, then it should go to voicemail. Does 148 have a voicemail box?

Also I do not want box 148 to pick up on the unanswered call. I want the operator extension to ring and the 148 cordless to ring simultaneously. If unanswered, I want box 100 to pick up the call. Outside calls not picking up, inside calls are?

In voicemail - what is the setting for the "Call Service Operator"? If it is the default 768, change it to the operator extension 100.

It is set for 100. Already been down that road! What does not make sense is why by pushing 0 from a house phone, it performs correctly. But pushing 0 from an AA does not.

Check to see that there is no "VMS Off" button programmed on the operator phone. Inside and outside VMS coverage is handled differently by the system. Does 148 have or need a mailbox? If not, take it out of coverage group 30 - by default 148 should then cover to the operator ext 100. You may want to do a print for extension 100 and 148 to see how VMS coverage is set and what buttons are programmed on each of those two extensions.

One thing that I do on most of my installs which helps prevent things like this is to go into "Options", "Transfer", "Return Time" and bump that from 4 up to 9. When you deal with primary and secondary coverage that timer is easily breached before the vmail coverage.

Here is the printouts of extensions 100 and 148.

I got it working after changing the primary ring delay on ext 100 to 1 instead of 2 and removed the programming from button 34. I do not recognize what that means on button 34. Any ideas?

Works now though. Might have been that with a 2 primary ring delay and then going through the coverage ring of 3, it pushed over the limit that Will was talking about.

Thanks for the help again Guys!
