Don't fall into the same mistake that I did. I very successfully migrated (using my magix 3.0 system) from old Merlin Mail - Release 3, to a new Merlin Messaging Release 4. GREAT NEW FEATURES! BUT, if you use your network, and the Administration software that runs on your PC, to set up your mailboxes; IF YOU SET UP OUTCALLING, don't use * (star) for a pause in the outcalling number, use , (comma). The system sends the * out as if you hit the star key on the phone keypad. I could not find this ANYWHERE in the documentation, but through experimentation (3+ hours) and listening to the phone line with my butt set, I realized that the *'s were being sent as keystrokes, but commas work perfectly for a puase.

I'm sure that most everyone out there knows this, but I didn't and I wanted to share it with you.

Thanks to everyone who provides information to this forum. I could not survive without it.

Yes, you found the only way to send *'s in an outcalling string! When inputting the number from the actual mailbox, the * represents the pause, so if you have some type of paging system that needs a *, you must go to the GUI to get it.

Thanks for the reminder!!
