If you restore a Messaging 4.0 with the wrong file using the LAN admin, what can you do to wipe the hard drive and restore the original 4.0 software?

If you restored an R4 Messaging - with a backup from a non-R4 Messaging (i.e., R2.5, R3.0) - you messed up your hard drive software badly. Meaning that the R4 Messaging will no longer boot - and all you will see are flashing lights. If this is what happened to you - then the only way to recover - is to reload the original R4 Messaging software on your existing drive.

It is doing exactly that.

Fortunately I did a backup of the 4.0 before I did anything... the only problem I have is I cannot enter the programming through dial tone, LAN, or RS232.

How do I access the hard drive to restore the backup I made?

You cannot access the software to restore it - you will need to either replace the hard drive with a new one - or send it in for repair to have the software reloaded.

The software that you overwrote was system programming-related - and it basically made your current hardrive non-functional.

You can contact me offsite for further info.
