I've read a few posts on this and tried what I've seen but still no luck. My PBX is a Merlin Legend r7 v14.2 and I have a Merlin Messaging v2.5 in it. I can get outcalling to work to my cell phone but my interal paging system is a no-go.

Unfortunately I don't have a butt set to listen in on when the paging system is getting the call. I can see the voice mail port light on the Messaging card blink with activity when it's trying to outcall, though.

Here's the sequence I have programmed for the outcalling, setup as a pager rather than as a telephone:

160,,,211,#,515#

The pager system is internally at the 160 extension. It usually picks up after a second or so with a prompt tone. From there I enter my pager number (211), followed by the pound sign. Then for the numeric message to send I send my telephone extension (515) followed by the pound sign.

When I do this sequence from a desk phone it works fine. But the Merlin Messaging doesn't seem to like it. I have tried playing with the pauses, programmed the sequence from a phone or from the admin software, etc. No luck. The outcalling to my cell phone does work, as I have stated.

Outcalling is a big part of our needs for a comprehensive VM system. I'd love to say that I have tackled this on the Merlin Messaging. Any suggestions?

change the outcalling extension to your extension and keep the rest then you can hear it when it calls you and you pick up the call.
Other then that it is an internal paging system and if it works when you call it and the pauses are not to few then I can't see a reason for it not to work

Good idea. I changed the outcalling sequence to hit my extension (515) rather than the paging system's internal extension (160). When my test notification went out I picked up the phone and I just heard silence. No touchtones. Maybe 5 seconds of silence and then the call disconnected.

at least you know now that it is really a messaging problem, try with using the phone option rather then the pager and if that works go back to pager, theoretically it should work that way though.

When I flagged the entry as Phone the outcalling dialed my extension and after 3 seconds or so just played the auto attendant announcements informing me of the new message. There weren't any touchtones like it has programmed in the dialing sequence. I should've heard 211 # and then 515 # when I picked up.

It's like the Merlin Messaging v2.5 isn't generating any touchtones when it's outcalling. That's why the cell phone outcalling is working okay. But for the pager outcalling to work the paging system needs to hear the touch tones.

I made all of the voice mail ports Rotary Enabled per the documentation so that VM message lights on the Merlin phones would work. Could this be why the touch tones aren't generating?

no that is only a setting for the ports the Voicemail doesn't even know about that one. Weird one, try with a different mailbox for outcalling maybe that is the problem
