Is there a way to receive your voicemail messages in a .wav format in your e-mail from a Merlin Messaging 2.5? Or do I need a newer software release?

I believe unified messaging was only available starting with release 3.0 Your module is formware and software upgradeable to R4.0 - which gives all of the bells and whistles.

Thank you for asking this question (and to Tom for answering it!).

I threw some stuff in at the bottom of thread689-1323084 to assist in answering a question about Merlin Messaging revisions. However, I think that information is almost more appropriate here.

The upgrade card that will do it for you is the one golden nugget that I don't have in my collection. But I'm sure one of the helpful people in the forum does. Anyone?

When you say formware and software upgradeable, do you mean I have to change out the board and keep the port card? The reason I ask is because that is what tech support said, and I have to reprogram from scratch. Also I cannot download any messages or any programming. Any thoughts?

They are "pulling your leg". Log into the Merlin Messaging admin mailbox - then press 7. You will hear the firmware and software release. If the firmware is 2.5.x and the software is 2.5.xx - then your module is fully upgradeable to Merlin Messaging R4.0

You can find me - if you need to.

By saying that your current Messaging module is fully upgradeable - I mean that you keep your current module. You do not need to change the board. There is a firmware upgrade on a PCMCIA card (single-use) that will upgrade your R2.5 module's firmware to R4.0 You then also have to upgrade the software on your Messaging module's hard drive. This is done via the LAN connection to a PC using a CD-ROM.

Oh - I forgot to mention - you will not need to reprogram anything. The upgrade will not affect existing programming on the voicemail module - including mailbox contents. They do recommend doing a full back-up via the LAN connection to a PC (before starting the 2-step upgrade process) - just in case. You will also have to download the Messaging R4.0 administration program from Avaya.com - because after the upgrade - your original (R2.5)LAN admin program will no longer work with the upgraded module.

Anyone have a comcode or PEC # for the PCMCIA upgrade from 2.5 to 4.0. By the way, thanks for everyone's responses.

The number shown on the side of the PCMCIA upgrade card is 700329303. I dunno if that's the model number, COMCode or what.

Since Tom has been so helpful, perhaps you should contact him directly and see if he can help you locate one. Since he does so much voicemail stuff, he may have one himself.
