Has anyone ever seen this. You call the auto attendant from outside and you hear the prompt, then at random points the prompt pauses and then a few seconds later it starts playing from the point it stopped. Never seen this, any comments?

You sure you don't have an IP Office there :)

I have not seen that with a Messaging but you could try rerecording it maybe the harddrive has a bad sector and that might help with it.

Thanks but its on any prompt, aa recording system pre recorded prompt never seen it.

If it were an IPO I could call it a bug and go home for the night.

You may have a hard drive with "sector errors" that is causing this problem. Probably a "failing" hard drive that needs replacement ASAP. If this a Merlin Messaging R2.0 or above - I would make a "full" backup of messaging system contents to a PC ASAP - and get a new hard drive ordered to "restore" programming to.

Got you TD. It's 2.5. I have a nother 2.5 to migrate it to. Here's a follow up question: can a backup be sent to a card that does not have a port license card in it?

The backup to a "port license" card holds minimal information. It consists of the configuration - and maybe the main autoattendant greetings (it's only a 4MB card). The backup to a PC includes EVERYTHING - and the file size is more like 15 to 20 MB.

Just wanted to update this. It turns out that the customer had a cisco IAD that was suppling the PRI. They had been having quality issues with that provider so they switched. Once the IAD was taken out, the voicemail started woring fine. I think the cisco was zapping out the system in a way I can't figure out but the problem is gone.

I should have suspected it because everytime I do a job with cisco telco provided equipment there is some type of problem.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you have bizarre issues and can't figure it out, take a look at the cisco if you have one.
