Greetings,

I have a Merlin Legend R7 V10 with a Merlin Messaging 2.5 installed in slot 12. I recently had to switch some ATL cards to MLX's. I kept the extension per card the same and preformed a board renumber so the system would "see" the new cards. Everything went well until I discovered that the Messaging 2.5 card is not being "seen" by the system. A system inventory in WinSMP(GUI) shows an OPT008 card where once it indicated the Messaging 2.5 card. Please correct me if I'm wrong I have read that this is how the system inventory will initially show the Messaging card.

We have some digital liturature that came with the card that indicates how to auto configure the card but there is no "Config M. Msg" indicated in the System menu options. I can however call the voice mail extension #770 and it appears that all its info is still there (I called my extension; messages, greetings, etc., still are present). Any help in getting the system to recognize the Messenger card would be most appreciated.

Item 1)
"....shows an OPT008 card"

That is normal for a LEGEND R7.0, it was developed BEFORE the Merlin Messaging module was.

Item 2)
"no "Config M. Msg" indicated in the System menu options"

Again, this is normal for the LEGEND R7.0. The "Config M. Msg" feature was developed for the R2.5 and UP of the MERLIN MAGIX System.

If you no longer have ANY ATL Cards, you can upgrade your Legend R7.0 to a MAGIX R4.0 (for not a lot of money) and clear up both of these issues.

BTW - the programming for the Messaging should still be there on the HD, and should still work just fine.

MerlinMan,

Thank you for your quick response. The problem that I have right now is that before the addition of the new cards and subsequent board renumber, the MM2.5 card was working. In addition, the system inventory did show the MM2.5 card. This is my dilemma. What did I do wrong?

I missed a crucial part of your post.

You really and truly DID NOT keep the numbers the same.

The reason for this is the MLX Module has PORTS assigned to the ADJUNCTS and thus it does end up being counted differently than your ATL modules.

Now you should do a print of your EXTENSION DIRECTORY so you can determine just what extensions are associated with your Merlin Messaging.

Then you can create a VM group using those extensions AFTER you remove whatever extensions are currently assigned to the VM Group.

The Merlin Legend/Magix do not like having modules shuffled around or changed from 1 type to another.
