Screensaver kicks in on PC running Merlin Messaging Administration? Apparently, this was a known problem at one time.
IP conflict? For example, a DCHP server issues the same address that you have hard-coded into the Messaging?
Does this happen when attemping a local backup with an Ethernet crossover cable?
Strap the Ethernet switch port (that's connected to Messaging) to 10M only. Sometimes older hardware causes hiccups with newer gear that automatically senses and corrects for speed and polarity differences.
Collisions? I'm guessing that Messaging is attempting to write a big block of closing data at the 97% mark. Now given the "real time" nature of voicemail AND the tax that a backup places on the Messaging processor, I wonder if that renders the voicemail intolerant of multiple retransmissions.
I think you are correct about the taxing, the Messaging is probably getting ready to return itself to service and my LAN link becomes unstable.
I plan on traveling to the facility to see if it will backup to a laptop on the same segment.
Thanks for the come back, I'll let you know what happens.
Mike
By the way, all my MM3.0 and MM4.0 backup as designed.
