Have them look at the label on the front top tab. It will say "Merlin Messging" on the next line there will be a model# (617A49, 617B49, 617C49, 617D49, etc.) Each model# corresponds to a different version. If the module is a 617C49 or higher (R2.5) - it may have been upgraded to Messaging R4.0. The only way they could tell that was if they could dial in to the admin mailbox and press 7 - to hear the release announcement - but obviously they cannot access the admin mailbox. But, let's at least start with the model#.
Well - that's a Release 3.0 Magix Messaging - unless it has been upgraded to R4.0. If it has been upgraded, then you will need to make that $200+ phone call to Avaya to have them reset it. If it is still an R3.0, I may be able to help. If you want me to give it a shot, contact me. tomd
Call your vendor if they are an Avaya Business Partner they should be able to help you. A good vendor will provide this service for free. All passwords are available for Business Partners, We received ours for the R4 8 months ago. If you dont have an Avaya Vendor and have to pay don't pay for more than a normal service call.
