Customer wants full auto attendant, but the Merlin Mail will not answer immediately. Calls from extensions and vm coverage calls work fine. I used the Night Service to program the VM to answer. I was playing around with line assign for the VM ports to make sure outcalling would work. At one point I had all the ports programmed identically, but only port 3 would answer CO calls! I triple-checked the line assign, and they are identical. Using line copy I got port 1 to work also, but I couldn't get all of them to work. I went into Group Calling and made sure the lines were assigned to group 777. I went to Members and made sure all were in it.

What am I missing?

Legend R7
Card config: 800CID/408MLX/408MLX/008MLX/008MLX/012

Do you have the lines assigned to your VM group?

(Sys Prog > Exit/Start > Extensions > More > Group Calling > lines/Trunks > Group Number ....)

You are saying 777, is that really the VM group?

(A lot of people assign 770 as the VM group...)

Yes, as I said, I made sure the lines were added into group 777. Even if they weren't, why would port 3 be the only one that worked?

Also, is there something I should know about using/not using 777?

1) put all ext's that want voice mail into a cover group(30)
2)Assign that group to group calling (770, 777...)
3)Assign the voicemail ports as members in that group
4)assign pools and or lines to be covered to that group
5)Assign that group(ext770,777...)to auto attendant 1 in voicemail(under mailbox admin)
With this basic setup all calls assigned to the group will be answered immediately by voicemail A.A.1(day greeting)
ALSO Rotary enable vm ports , circular hunt type, intergrated v.m.

Hopefully nobody thinks that I am just some I.T. guy who messed up the programming while trying to save a buck. I have programmed Legend systems for voicemail before. I was just looking for something to explain why only port 3 is answering outside calls, when it works fine for coverage and direct intercom calls (typing icm 777).

I will return to the site and carefully re-program the VM group as 770, testing CO call answering before and after programming line assign (both for the group and the extensions). I actually feel that this might be a glitch. I will post the results here for everybody's benefit.

I agree, could be a glytch with ports 1,2 and 4.

I think before I reprogrammed, I would power down and reseat the 007, just for drill.

This could be totally unrelated, but I set up a CKE3 Processor with a lot of high density cards, knowing that the real switch would be a CKE4.

Guess what, after the CKE4 was installed, the programming I did on the top 1/2 of the HIGH DENSITY cards did not work. It was there, but it did not work. We had to remove it and re-do it to get it to work.

That shouldn't be an issue here, but it is something to consider.

Update:

We believe that the problem is the 012 card. A replacement is on the way.

OF course, a good way to test it would be to plug a regular 2500 Type set in and see if it can ring and talk.

Merlinman is correct or also just change around the 4 port connections to the 012RG and see if the "bad" port follows the changes.

You may have a a problem with the MLM007s main board in that it isn't signalling the 3rd port on the 2 port expansion module. May need some board level repair work.

Let me know if the 012RG swap doesn't work.
