Merlin Mail won't discern VM from AA

I have a Merlin Mail, not sure what release. I have an extension set to ring on 2 user's phone's as their published number. They each have their own DID as well. We put x5101 as primary coverage on each phone, x5101 is set to FNA to VM. The AA has been built and answers, but won't answer based on VM box 5101 having COS 15, it will only answer if we've allocated the VM ports to be all AA. If we set all VM ports to be VM instead, even though the VM box of 5101 with COS 15 exists, calls to 5101 get answered by dead air. If I delete the 5101 box, and put it back in as COS 3 for instance, it answers ok as a call answer type box... Can't seem to figure out how to make both work correctly, 5150 (VM pilot number) to be answered by generic VM asking for VM box and 5101 being answered by AA 1, any help would be appreciated. Seems to me it might be a malfunction and more of a problem than simply programming...

5101, set to COS 15 should play the AA Greeting when called. Have you tested it that way without all the Ports being set to AA?

Your description doesn't make that clear.

Either way, once you get 5101 to answer as an AA independently, you should probably put the 2 users phones in a calling group and set 5101 as the MESSAGE RECEIVER, or an OVERFLOW.

Actually I did say, in the middle of the paragraph, it states you get dead air.. Hard to understand, box 5101 is built with COS 15 and we don't get the greeting, we get instead dead air. If I set the VM ports to be AA, it works as it should. Except the users onsite don't like getting an AA instead of the generic VM answer. I told them all they have to do is dial *7, but that seems to be too tough for them. And actually the VM system should be capable of both methods. I believe this VM system is defective... Can't think of any other answer, does it seem that way to you guys...

Yep, it could be going out.

You can look into it with the Serial Port and see if there are messages that need to be deleted that could be clogging it up.

Just remember, these things, and the HARD DRIVES in them that make them work, ARE GETTING PRETTY OLD now.
