Hi experts,

I currently have a merlin magix system, with merlin mail.
It's a 007MLM module.
cke5 processor
I'm not sure of the software versions.

It works fine, but from my understanding, I cannot back it up the mail in any fashion. Question 1: Is that correct?

Question:2 How can I get the software versions? I have WinSPM 9 installed, but it lists nothing in the system inventory.
Question 3: If not, in what way can I back it up? The structure?
Question 4: Could it be easily replaced with merlin messaging?
Question 5: If replace with merlin messaging, can I transfer the existing setup (mailboxes, auto attendants, etc) ??

thanks in advance...

You must have a Magix (any release) or Legend (R7 only) to use Merlin Messaging.

You will have to build all of the mailboxes and auto attendants by hand.

Later releases of Magix allow you to auto configure the mailboxes, but it may use different hunt groups from what you are using now, so it would be just as easy to use the programming gui to set them up.

Thanks TTT..

I cannot back up the merlin mail in any fashion. Is that correct?
(If that is not correct, in what way can I back it up)?

Is there a way I get the software versions/info from my systems? I have WinSPM 9 installed, but it lists nothing in the system inventory.

You can not back up the 007, however you can connect through the serial port and pull reports to make it easier to rebuild the configurations.

You can find the release of the voicemail when you log into the system administrator's mailbox, it should announce the release.

For the Magix/Legend itself, dial *05 at a phone and look at the display, or look at the bottom line of the WinSPM program when you connect.

Thanks
it was Magix 3.0 V7.0

however when I dial into the voicemail and get the system administrator, it just announces that it's the system administrator, and says to get messages press 2.

is there another way?

yes, I did that as well. It starts asking to press numbers for other options, like administer system parameters, group lists, system greetings etc.

It does announce that it is for authorized users, which I am.

hmmm

Well, after pressing 9, and receiving the warning, you should hear "Merlin Mail, Release X", but then again, if it is an 007MLM, it is equivalent to a Merlin Mail Release 3

(Unless it's the Merlin Messaging you're trying to find the release on, log into the System Admin mailbox and press 7 instead of 9)

after pressing 9 it asks for a password, then I put that in, and it goes to the menu with options to choose.

I was thinking of putting in a merlin messaging instead. Would the cards just swap out with the processor and release/versions i have?

You would be able to use an Avaya Merlin Messaging with the processor you have, but I think you will need to do some re-programming after the new voicemail is inserted into the carrier.
