What is the Merlin Mail 7.4 Is it a variation of the Merlin Mail R3. I have in the past only seen the R2 and R3 and in the past 2 weeks i have seen 2 of these. you usually don't see this release mentioned much.
Any Ideas?

TTech,

The MM 7.4 and 7.5 were prior releases to the MM R2 and the latest MMR 3. All of these Merlin Mails are not Y2K compliant except the release MM 3.05 software for the Merlin Mail R3.0. Whenever we do our MM R3.0 voice mail repairs in our repair facility, we use the R3.05 version on the new hard drive which provides the proper Y2K programming and the dates/calendars work properly.

The MM 7.4 & 7.5 were work horses and some companies still use them. The Y2K issue isn't that major of a problem as you can manually go into the system and change the date but it is lost whenever power goes down unless your customer has a larger UPS battery backup.

Hope that helps. Andrew Roach

dear Drew

All my Merlin Mail R3's (up to R3.10) seem to have a problem in the BIOS date setting. If you set the date piror to 12/31/99, the date and time will save on power down. If you set it later than 12/31/99, it does not save it. (Dallas chip seems to be fine)

Have you solved this?

Stratagydk,

You are correct that ALL the Merlin Mail R3.0s that have the older software versions - R3.00 thru R3.04 are not Y2K compliant. The last release - R3.05 is the only release that is Y2K compliant. We can upgrade all your MM R3.0s for you if you need them to be Y2K compliant, but I can't go any farther than that on this forum post as it would be "selling" and I don't want to have any problems with the BOSS or other vendors/interconnects.

You know how to contact me if you wish to discuss this Y2K issue further. Thanks! Andrew Roach
