Isn't Merlin Mail R3 the "hang on the wall, external PC" flavor of voice mail? If so, the modem was external and connected to the serial port, you pluf it into a T/R station port. On 007 MLM cards, the modem is the 7th(?) port on the card
TTTommy,
Yes, it is the hang on the wall and take up your backboard space VM. Is there a way to get to the internal legend modem through the AA like **10 on Merlin Messaging 2.5 or transfer to ext. 76 like Partner Messaging 1.0. I do not want to connect to the Merlin Mail but to the system with Win SPM. There is no way to set up *10 as a transfer only extension and we don't have a line dedicated or shared for remote admin. If I can accomplish this some other way please explain.
No, but if you have a spare Tip/Ting port and a spare CO port, loop them together. Make a transfer only mailbox so you can call the T/R extension from the auto attendant. Make the CO port a dedicated remote access line, make a barrier code and assign it to system programming.
Call in, hit the auto attendant, dial the T/R port's extension number, ring into the remote access CO port, be answered by stutter dial tone, enter the barrier code, get another internal dial tone, enter *10 and be transferred to the internal SPM modem! (whew!)
I think I do have the ports I need. I'll check tomorrow. Thanks for the info. I still can't believe how many packs of Goodys powder I've saved since finding this site.
