I have building with a Legend and Merlin Mail probably close to 40 phones/Extensions. 1 phone (Ext. 318) will not direct calls to the voice mail box assigned to that extension (also named 318). It is the only extension on the system that does this.
I tried using a different port on the phone switch. I tried deleting and recreating it on the phone switch and in the VM card. I even tried a different phone set, (knowing that it was not the problem, but thought what the heck, nothing else has worked.) I checked three other working extensions and they are all set up the same programming wise as the non working. Any other suggestions?

Try adding it to cover group 30.

MENU>SYSTEM PROGRAM> EXIT > EXTENSIONS > MORE> GROUP COVER > 30 > ENTER > 318 > ENTER > HOME to exit.

You should also be able to try pressing FEATURE 56 then 318.

If you get an error tone, this would confirm that the above step is needed.

Thanks Mikedphones: I will thy this for sure...out of curiousity what does cover group 30 do or what is it. Help me be intelligent! Thanks Again.

It's the cover group typically used for voicemail. In other parts of the group calling menu, group 30 is typically related to the calling group (usually 770) for voicemail.

Basically any phone that is not in this cover group, does not fall to vm coverage. Actually, the groups are 1 - 30, but most techs use 30.

If you want to confirm that group 30 is in fact being used in your case, when you get to the step where you enter group 30 and press Enter, press INSPCT to view if there are several other extensions in there. If so, this is the right group. If not, then don't bother putting 318 in there. You may want to repeat the process and inspect the other groups, starting with 1.

Again, the easiest way to tell is just to press FEATURE 56 and dial 318. If you get the error tone, this is the problem.

Thanks again Mikedphones, BTW it worked wonderfully...not that I ever doubted it would...mainly I like to know why something works, so can explain it someday if needed.

To become more learned about the Legend/Magix phone systems you can get all the documentation for free from support.avaya.com or wedophones.com ...

Happy reading!
