I have a Magix system with Merlin Mail. When you call voicemail by either dialing the extension or by the direct dial button on the handset after each ring you get a beep. The same series of rings and a beep that you get when you have an extension that does not have voicemail assigned to it. So, common sense would say there is no voicemail assigned to the system...right? I have looked at the system and it appears to be fine. I have also rebooted the entire system twice, still no change. What could this be? and How do I fix it?

Ring BEEP, when calling a Calling Group, (which is how you access Voice Mail) indicates that the MEMBERS of that Calling Group (Merlin Mail/Merlin Messaging Extensions) are not available.

Has this ever worked?

If so, power cycle the system and see if it comes back to life.

If it has never worked, then Print your calling groups and see if there's one set up for "Integrated VMI".

It has worked before and I have tried the power cycle twice with no success. Is it possible that I will have to add every extension back to the calling group?

When you power cycle the system do you hear the voicemail hard drive start up or does it do one of the following: Whirr..click..whir..click..whir..click or nothing at all? Could be a bad hard drive on the voicemail. Do the port lights come on or does just the status light come on?

Thanks for this advice, I will have to go the school and restart the system and listen to the VM card. By hard drive do you mean the PCI card?

There is an actual computer hard drive inside the shell of the voicemail. If you have a Magix (not a Legend) then you have a Merlin Messaging.

Thanks it is definitely a Magix...I will listen to it closely

Also check the LEDs on the front of the Merlin Messaging board to see if anything looks amiss.

You may also be able to reset the Messaging by removing the PC card for a couple of minutes and then replace it and wait a bit. That's the normal manner to reset a Merlin Messaging...

Thanks for all the help with this. Ends up the board was bad.

I replaced the board completely and obviously reset up all the mail boxes. To get the system back working. Then put the card in my test system and played with that for quite a while and could not get anything to work. #Toast

Thanks again everyone. You all are teaching me a lot.
