A few days ago my MM 3.0 started to have backdoor access and delayed message light problems. From troubleshooting I found that ports 3 and 4 have the auto attendant attempting to transfer a call to a unknown/invalid extension. This is alternating between ports 3&4 constantly. Resets on both VM and phone system are not stopping the problem. Ports 1&2 are functioning fine. Any ideas on how to stop this?

thanks

Sounds like someone is trying to outdial to their cell phone or pager, by default the vm ports are restricted.

I'm not sure how you determined that the vm ports 3&4 are trying to xfer to an invalid ext, but invalid ext xfers end up at the lowest logical id in the Merlin Legend/Magix, so the ports would not stay in loop. If this problem recently happened as a result of adding backdoor access, you may want to check and make sure the LS reliable disconnect is set to yes in Merlin Legend/Magix. You did say that this was a Merlin Mail, not Merlin Messaging, right?

Yes! this is Merlin Mail 3.0. To Troubleshoot I place my butt set in line with port 3 or 4 and monitor whats happening. Both ports alternate by calling "transferring call please hold" then a three digit number is dialed, there is no answer, it tries again, then hangs up and does the same from the other port. Maybe it's outcalling but shouldn't those have a maximum number of attempts?

The voice mail card finally failed completely, I have replaced the card and the problem is gone.
