Merlin Magix Winspm help needed

Hi,

I have a Merlin Magix system and I can not get into with Winspm by doing *10 from my windows xp computer. It just freezes up after I enter the password so I don't know if I have modem set at the right settings. Now I was able to get in the old Merlin Legend okay that we still have sitting around but not the Magix. I also tried every version of Winspm from 3 to version 9.

Considering you are able to get into the LEGEND, but not the MAGIX, you could have a bad modem in the MAGIX Processor. It has been known to happen.

Also, it could be that the MAGIX's Modem is in need of a reset.

You can do that at the MAIN CONSOLE by Pressing:

MENU > Maintenance > Port > Modem > and then Reset.

If that doesn't fix it, you may need a new Processor. (Not that costly anymore)

Also, you can get a 355 Adapter, and a few other things (USB to Serial, if you don't have a REAL serial port on your PC) and then connect directly to the ADMIN Port on the processor itself.

I have had one or the other (Modem or ADMIN Port) fail on various processors over the years.
