I have Merlin Magix with integrated voicemail, there are 2 extensions 190 and 735. I would like to set it up where if calls go to x190 after 3 or 4 rings it goes to the voicemail of x735.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks...

Which release of Merlin Messaging?

Make a mailbox for 190, but make it's "phantom destination" 735

TouchToneTommy
how do we create the phantom destination for 190?

option 8 is only giving me the option to assign or unassign a phone to this extension.

Again, which release? log into the system administration mailbox, then press 7 instead of 9.

Once you are in extension admin for 190, press 9 to assign the phantom destination (if it is available to you)

s/w release 2513
language version 253

The PHANTOM MAILBOX Feature is available in Release 3.0 and above.

To provide a bit more info, there still may be a way for you to accomplish this.

You could change 190 to another extension number. (Let's use 333)

Then create an auto login calling group of 190, with overflow to voice mail and the only member would be 333.

Set the OVERFLOW NUMBER to 99 and the OVERFLOW Time to say 20 seconds (or what ever).

Make 735 the MESSAGE Receiver for group 190.

Now, after a call rings at 333, for the OVERFLOW TIME, it will go to voice mail for 190, but it will turn the light on for 735.

Not as clean as doing it with a Phantom Mailbox using R-3 Merlin Messaging, but it will work.

So

Or - you can upgrade your R2.5 Merlin Messaging to R4.0 - and then the phantom option would be built-in.

All, I am a complete novice in Merlin programming..
Merlinman could you be more inclusive and give a step by step, I know what you are saying in theory but I need a do this, do that ...Merlin for Dummies type thread..if you have the time ..appreciated...

Thanks

Actually this is so complex that I can't begin to post it here.

Can you figure out how to PM me and we can work something out.

The solution offered by Merlinman will not work because once the Merlin calling group routes the caller to a member, the rules for overflow for the group do not apply. This is true for both the autologin and autologout types of groups.

Correction: Autologout calls will follow overflow, but the member is logged out and won't receive any more calls until the user logs the extention back in. Sorry bout that

My suggestion does not use a MEMBER, it uses a MEMBERLESS CALLING GROUP, with OVERFLOW. So there is no one to be logged out.

I have used it many times. Many people use this method.

In fact, this method was provided in the training sessions back when.

Sorry Merlinman I guess I just don't understand. You stated: Then create an auto login calling group of 190, with overflow to voice mail and the only member would be 333.

How would 333 ring if calls were directed to the calling group for overflow to voicemail?

memphisribs has caught me typing something I shouldn't have:

You could change 190 to another extension number. (Let's use 333)
This was just to enable us to renumber a calling group to 190.

This next line should have read:

Then create an auto login calling group of 190, with overflow to voice mail WITH NO MEMBERS.
