Have a Merlin Magix 4.0 processor, need to get SMDR output to terminal emulator on Win XP pc. I have checked all SMDR options and have duration set to 1 second, incoming and outgoing calls recorded. If I press the new page option the header is printed in my emulator. However no call records are printed even after serveral test calls are placed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Emulation = 8,1,& none @ 1200 BPS. flowcontrol = none.

Check the pinouts on the RJ-45 to your 9 or 25 pin adapter, something there is probably goofed. You should be able to go to hyperterminal, 1200-N-8-1, (no FC) and get something. Since the CR seems to be generated, looks like something is working. I THINK there is a place to reset the SMDR port, so that might be in order, and of course, a cold reboot might be in order if there have been power issues without a battery backup.

Thanks, but this problem exist on several Merlin's that I maintain. My connection is via the comm port on the PC to a 25 pin adapter, 355AF adapter to SMDR port on the control module. Same cable and adapters that I use for a direct connection with WINSPM. Tried different PC's and other 355AF adapters and cords. Get Header, but no call details.

Is the same PC being used in all the instances you have trouble?

To answer your question about PC's, No, serveral with XP and NT operating systems. But further testing has resulted in a new development. Incoming calls are being reported, but not outgoing. Only have one line on test system, 70 pool, it doesn't matter if I use ARS or select the line directly, when I hang up after a 60 second call, no call record prints out. Only in-bound calls over this same trunk will print out of SMDR. Now what??

On the call report field in the SMDR Options, there is a selection for in/out and for out, but none for in only. This makes no sense. Is the talk time turned on / enabled?

Current SMDR settings, Format = basic SMDR, Call Length = 40 seconds, call report = in/out, talk time = enable. Systems have been reset, one system will not print in or out call records. DUH???
