One of our divisionshas a merlin magix and a partial t1 for incoming and outgoing calls. I'm not onsite and know very little about a merlin, but trying to help our site contact their. When they try making outbound calls it will intermittently drop the light on the SA button and the call never completes. Of course AT&T says it's not their problem and Avaya says their's nothing wrong with the magix. Any ideas? Vendor meet is my only idea seeing we don't have a techy person on site, but thought I'd try and get some ideas of where the problem might be. Thanks

is it a T1 or a PRI?? Did you check the errors on maintance? Misframes, slips, ect. I would check the clocking as well, pretty much it should be set to loop, which is default, but you never know. Is there a pattern to the disconnect?

To check errors, menu-->maintance-->system-->error log-->permanent and transient
As well,
menu-->maintance-->slot-->slot number of DCD/DS/INA-->error events-->current hour-->and what do you see??

Clocking: menu-->sysprog-->exit or start-->lines/trunks-->more-->clocking-->slot number??-->what is it set to?

This is all basic stuff, check the faq read TTT post about troubleshooting T1's. Very helpful.

Is the problem only with one phone? I had a customer with a bad handset jack and if you were dialing the SA light would go out. I replaced the phone and if fixed the problem.

sounds like a bad phone like ttech said, or your caller is trying to access a trunk that is not in service.
