Merlin-Magix w/intuity Audix LX 1.1

I have a situation where our AA in our remote office has quit and the position is going to be eliminated. I've been asked to come up with a few solutions to take care of incoming calls.
Now I know the programming in Audix well enough to change our main Extension to an Auto Attendant and have the callers make a selection to be routed to the person they want to speak to.
But I would like to find another solution that would allow the callers to have a live person to talk to.
The thought would be to setup several Answer groups(Definity term) that the callers would bounce to on a specific coverage path with a certain amount of rings for each answer group. Finally maybe end up in a voicemail box if there is no one to answer the phone at that time.
I see there are calling groups that can be setup on the Magix. Is this the same thing as an Answer group that extensions can be added and all the phones in that group will ring at the same time for a specific number of rings?
Any other thoughts on a different/better solution would be great too.
I wonder if the Magix can forward a call off net to our main office 200 miles away where our AA could answer the phone if no one in this office is available.
