If I program a phone to allow external call forward, does a phone set have to be physically plugged into that port in order for the call forward to work?

Customer has x150 call forwarded to an external number, but has asked does he have to leave the set plugged in.

No, you don't need to have a physical phone plugged into the extension port.

You can also use an adjunct port, renumber it to 150, assign it RCF and an account code, then program it with the RCF number.
