Merlin Magix r4 and Cbeyond T1

My office has a Merlin Magix with 2 100ds1 modules. We are trying to hook up to a Cbeyond T1 connection. The settings given to us by Cbeyond are:

1 Combo (2-way) trunk group,
ESF framing; B2zs coding,
E&M wink signaling,
Glare & clocking = Cbeyond network is master,
DTMF Dialing,
Trunk selection: Ascending Inbound,
Descending Outbound,
All DIDs and phone numbers are pointed to the 1 Trunk group.

It does not seem the DS1 can take these all of these settings. Is there something I am missing?

You're not missing anything. The MAGIX can accomodate (by default or through system programming) all of these parameters. I have many customers who use Cbeyond as a carrier.

I also have many clients with Cbeyond.

HOWEVER, there is a CUSTOM SOFTWARE LOAD that Cbeyond must provide to make the Legend work.

I think it is known as the "AT&T MERLIN" load, but I am not all that sure "just now".

As in "JUST NOW, AFTER I SPENT 6 HOURS" trying to get Cbeyond to get their PRI CIRCUIT I connected to my clients Legend TO, to work.

As the DAY dragged on, it got quite bad 'cause they just quit calling me back. (What kind of TECH SUPPORT is that?)

HELLO - Cbeyond, IS any body home!

Thus, I will be going back on Monday. (20 Miles ONE WAY!)

But remember what I said, they have to do some type of CUSTOM SOFTWARE LOAD to make their stuff work with a LEGEND/MAGIX.

Alas, I know not what those settings mean.

For sure, I do have several clients that have been up and running with Cbeyond PRI circuits with FEW OR NO PROBLEMS, FOR YEARS.

HOWEVER this afternoon, I "ATTEMPTED" to get their Tech Support Person to "CLONE" a system I know that is working to the system I was working on, but to no avail. It didn't fly. (Nor did it talk.)

For the past SEVERAL YEARS, I have "BRAGGED ON" Cbeyond, considering their EXCELLENT SERVICE and my TOTALLY GREAT EXPERIENCES at cut-over time, but now, I am not so sure.

GOOD LUCK, and wish me GOOD LUCK on Monday as well.

Monday will be the true test of Cbeyond in my book.

If they can't make this fly............

Then Monday may very well be the day I decide to hang up my Test Set forever.

(Or, Maybe Tuesday....)


But for sure, Thursday.

Please forgive me for VENTING, but I think I am pretty much done here.

Fortunately, this is not a PRI.

I set the lines for T1 -> ALL TIE -> TIE PBX

Framing -> EXTENDED SUPER FRAME

Suppression -> B8ZS

Signalling -> ROBBED BIT

Clock -> Primary ->LOOP

Everything seems to be working fine. If I missed something, perhaps someone can point it out to me. Otherwise, if this is correct, these settings might be helpful to anyone else that has to setup Cbeyond T1 CAS with a Merlin Magix.
