We have the following:
Cabinet 1
0: Processor CKE5
1: 412 LS-TDL
2: 024 TDL
3: 016 TRR
4: 800 GL-ID
5: 800 DID

Cabinet 2
6: Merlin Messaging

Have never done adding boards. Do I just:
1) power all down
2) insert 024TDL to slot 7
3) power on
4) new board is recognized?
5) go renumber the 24 new ports to ext numbers I want?

Will the existing extension numbers get disturbed?

Thanks

1)Do a backup to the flash card first
2)Power off Cabinet 1, then Cabinet 2
3)Insert new card into slot 7 (empty slot 2 on 2nd cabinet)
4)Power up Cabinet 2, then power up Cabinet 1
5)In System Programming, do a Board Renumber
6)Renumber extensions to suit and program features as needed

5)In System Programming, do a Board Renumber

What does this step do? It is necessary to move the new board to a lower number?

Your question "5)In System Programming, do a Board Renumber" - - "What does this step do?"

A Board renumber tells the Processor to "go see what's out there", that is, do a search for any HARDWARE Changes and make the appropriate changes to the current active hardware inventory.

I don't understand the other part of that question. Could you re-phrase?

It might be just I didn't understand the term "renumber". It looked to me it is to logically move the slot/board number? But from other part it appears "renumber" is just to get the processor board to know what boards are there, correct?

Correct. It is telling the processor to take inventory of which boards are installed in which slots. A Board Renumber should be done when you add, subtract, replace or rearrange boards. [smile]
