I had restored programming on a Merlin Magix with a 100DCD card installed. When I did the PRI dropped and hasn't came back up. I reset the system, busied out the 100DCD board, restored. I have changed back to the current backup.
I called the local provider, they conducted their tests. They show the PRI is good. The are showing that the B channels are showing in maintenance, error codes 34 (no circuit channels available) and error code 54 (Maint service B channels).
I have a second 100 DCD in the system that is not being used, I swapped cards..nothing. I did a board renumber..nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like the programming on the PRI has been goofed up. I would do a print of the PRI programming using winspm.

Here is a good twist. The provider said that it wasn't them. They did all their checks and everything pointed to our Magix system. I went back to get another 100DCD card from our office. My customer calls me to tell me the phones are now working. 2 minutes later, the provider calls me to tell me the same thing.
Thank you Mr. provider for at least telling me, instead of just making the switch and saying.. oh, we didn't do anything.
I am set for 5ESS and Custom. When the system is disconnected from the PRI, somehow the setup for the PRI changes back to National, automatically. Apparantly, there is no way to correct this.
The customer has a backup generator, so power doesn't go out very often.

That is TOTAL BS! The 5ESS does not change translations just because a DS1 facility goes into alarm! The PRI is configured just like any other trunk group, ie DID or Supertrunk, except that for PRI there are 2 trunk groups assigned. One for the B channels and one for the D channel. Sometimes the BCHs won't restore to normal in-service by themselves. So the provider has to manually cycle them. Sounds like that provider does not know how to properly program the 5ESS! But there is one thing you can try the next time it happens. Using SPM, go into maintenance and force busy out the 100DCD module. this will put it in alarm of course. Then perform a module test, then reset and restore. Check stats and alarms, then clear alarms. See if that process helps. Just in case some channels get stuck. I have used this method in the past on a Legend that does not have a UPS on it. So when there is a power hit or failure, everything comes up at the same time and glitches the 100D module and generates constant test failure errors, because the expansion cabinets all powered at the same time. No way to delay power in this case, since that is a manual process. So that is what I do to clear the garbage alarms.

It is a good idea to check the alarm codes being reported, because that can be very telling...

Hope this helps!

Thank you Jim. I did follow the process of busying out the 100DCD card and even changing the card out. The company that I dealt with, resells the PRI service. It seems very bizzare that the PRI configuration could be changed by simply rebooting the system and/or 100DCD card.
The technician claims that it reverted back to National. A friend of mine thought that the provider uses NI2 and possibly the reseller has to manipulate the translation somehow, to work with the Magix. I have no idea. Out of my area. I will post again if I get more information. Thank you.

Who is the provider and/or reseller of the PRI service? Do you know from what Central Office it is served?
