Hi All,
I inherited the merlin magix at work. We have a station on a 412 TDL card (station 14 & 13 ive tried both) that will not give dialtone on the handset but it will give dialtone on the speakerphone. The extension status says there is a error but I/we have no clue how to find out what the error is and how to fix it. Has anyone ever seen this problem before? How do we rectify it? We have replaced both the CKE5 processor and the 412 TDL card and it will not go away. the phones work fine on other station jacks so I do know its not a issue with the phones itself.
We are running magix 4.0 v7.1 i believe it is. Our configuration is pretty simple.
Thank you!

Have you tried a different phone (one that works) in those same jacks?

This could be a BACKPLANE issue, at least that's what I suspect. But to prove it, use a KNOWN WORKING PHONE in these jacks and test these phones in KNOWN WORKING JACKS.

Merlinman,
We have already done both so it sounds like the backplane is toasted. Im guessing we need a entire new carrier is this correct?

Cvrbob,
The phones we are talking about are 4412+ phones so they do not need power cubes.

Do you have any unused station ports? You could connect these to available ports, then renumber to keep the extension numbers the same.

You might also go into Maintenance, try busying out the slot, resetting it, and restoring. Also check the individual station ports in Maintenance.

Also, print out the extension info report for each one, look especially if "Line Preference" is set to "ON"

touchtonetommy,
Ive tried moving the wiring around and still do not get dialtone on the handset. I do get a loopback test failed if I try to test the slot itself. Does this indicate the backplanes messed up?
Ive tried busy out/restoring and still nada. Line preference was on turned off and rechecked and still no dialtone.
Any other suggestions?

is it possible that you are connecting less than a 4424 into a port programmed to be an attendant position?

42

If that were the case he should get "invalid 44xx" in the display.

Wireboy,
Nope it is not programmed to be an attendant position :)
I did go ahead and get a new carrier it will be here next week.
