I am trying to program the main DID "550" to go to AA1 after say 4 rings. What I had done was program calling group 790, assign pool 70 to it(lines/channels 801-823 are in pool 70), and make it overflow to mail calling group 7929. I set the number based to 99, and the time based to say 16. Also I did assign the 790 group as AA1 extension in MM. It did work for a while, but sometime between inital installation of the system, and programming tweeking of the system, it stopped working. I do not know what I did,(if anything)to make it stop. I called tech support and they told me that when a PRI is set to route by dial plan, you shouldn't be able to assign a pool to a calling group. And that it shouldn't have even worked. Ever heard of that? Can anyone tell me another way to accomplish this if the way I'm trying isn't supposed to work?

There are a couple of ways to achieve this...the simpliest is as follows:
If you need the call to ring at the console before the AA answers...then renumber the console to extension 550...then create mailbox 550 as AA1 mailbox...set the cover delay for extension 550 to 4 rings. If your group coverage is set up correctly...you should be good.
What you did with calling group 790 only works if you had actual physical trunks in pool 70 ringing into the calling group...right now 801-823 doesn't ring into 790...since for inbound traffic you are just receiving digits which are then routed according to the dial plan.It is really your outbound traffic that utilizes the pool for ARS routing.

In your route by dialplan tables you should set up a route say for example "1", set the type of service to "any service", set the number of digits to expect to "3", set the pattern to match to "550", set the number of digits to delete to "3", set the add digits to "790". Remove pool 70 from group 790, I'm surprised that you were able to include it to start with, and having done it, did not create all sorts of problems.

Thanks for the responses. I finally just pointed the DID to the receptionist's extension, and made it the Auto Attendant extension for AA1. It works and all, but I was trying to get this to work, an let the receptionist have a personal mailbox. Guess she'll have to use the general mailbox if she needs it.
