Hello again!
How many simultaneous rings can I have on this system? I was told that I can make 19 phones ring at the same time. Is that true?

If I have 25 phones, with only 19 ringing at the same time with the main number, what happens to that 20'th call that comes in?

M

Not sure why you would want all 19 phones ringing at the same time - but you can make it so. Most people set only the operator or receptionist phones to ring on all lines - the rest are set to no ring - unless you like a REALLY, REALLY noisy office. Other phones will ring when a call is transferred to that phone by the receptionist or voice mail autoattendant.

Hello!
It's a HUGE sales office and they all need their phone to ring at the same time (first one to answer the call gets the lead). Any suggestions on how to program this???

You would set up your sales office in one or more Calling Groups. You should read up on the various types of calling groups - they differ on who gets the call, and how the phones ring (linear hunt, circular hunt, free-for-all (all ring), etc.

Got it! I'm reading the book now.

So, let's say I have 25 staff in the office and I am using this Calling Group for 19 of them to make their phone ring at the same time. I plan to use the Main Number for this Calling Group. What happens to that 20th call that comes in? Does it go directly to voicemail?

How many calls will ring depends on how many lines you have and people available to answer them - there is no 19 ring limit I am aware of - even though 19 simultaneous calls are very unlikely. You can make the calling group for sales "all ring" - in which case all of the phones included in the group will ring. And the first one to grab their phone - will get the call. However, the trade-of is that an unanswered call will not cover to voicemail - it will just keep ringing and ringing until someone answers or the caller hangs up. There are a number of options available in setting up a calling group as to hunt type, group type, etc. You need to read through each option carefully in the Magix System Reference Manual and see which option best suits your needs. Remember, this phone system is designed to handle up to 80 lines and 200 extensions - a 19 ring limit would be rather stupid.

Hmm. I see. I got the number 19 from an ex-employee here. He told us that we could only get 19 phones to ring at once.

Yes, 19 simutaneous calls are unlikely, but it does happen it our business. So I am understanding, if I use this feature those calls will not roll to any voicemail, correct? If so, that's not a good thing.

I will have a Full T1 and 25 phones, so there will be plenty of lines (23).

I will grab the manual and start reading.

Thank you!

Well, you can jury-rig around, the no transfer to voicemail limitation - for an "all ring" calling group, but you will need to do a looparound from an empty 016 T/R slot to an empty line slot (as on a 412 TDL module) AND you will have to use another autoattendant in your voicemail to take the call and record any message in a general mailbox only. I have used this technique successfully in the past. If you check my previous postings - you will see how it can be done. However, I am not sure you want to use an "all ring" calling group - which is why you should check the other options. The same limitation would apply to any autologin group type - so you looking at the options, you should probably go with an autologout type. The looparound would necessitate that one of your two TDL modules be an 412 TDL vs an 024 TDL.

I've seen that not all phone ring at the same time too. I think it is a power thing. The system does not have enough power to ring all phones at once. so it rings some then rings the others. Back & forth.

Well - assuming his sales people are busy grabbing the phones as they ring - I doubt that he would ever have 19+ ringing simultaneously.
