Merlin Magix / Fiber To New Building 4

I'm looking for some suggestions since I'm sure many other companies have gone through the same situation.

We are running a Merlin Magix R3.0 system. I have a second production building that has some copper and fiber connections back to my main building (where the phone system is). We have used all available copper connections for phone extensions, but are needing more. Rather than running more copper lines, I would like to find a media converter of some sort to run our extensions through the fiber connection(s).

So far, everything that I have looked at would involve switching phone systems or putting a new Merlin Magix cabinet in my new building. I would prefer to keep it less complicated than that.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I was in the same boat as you a few months ago. We had fiber (single and multi mode)out the wazoo, but no copper at an airport. I have to extend LAN and Merlin Magix service to 9 outbuildings. The solution we will use came from MCK. This unit extend 2 wire Magix set.. 44xx type

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Their EXTender 6000 product should work well for adding an extra 4 or 5 phones to a building. There seems to be a lot of them available on eBay right now as well.

Unfortunately, I've done this twice with fiber, and both times it necessitated a switch in the remote building.

Perhaps you can find something on Adtran's website to try and multiplex it down into channels you can use with FXS/FXO ports

I have used the MCK line to remote off of a Definity with great success. I remoted a phone from Mobile, AL to Kuwait while on reserve duty last year.

When you say you had to use a switch in the remote building, are you refering to a network switch, or some type of phone equipment switch?
