I am trying to setup the Auto Attendant on this thing(Merlin Messanging Release 2.0) This was moved from another office where the AA was working. I have since changed the AA greeting to match our needs. When I dial the AA # 2 ext (3077) I get my greeting, but when I dial 0 or any other extension, it does not transfer to that phone. It rings on my handset, but never rings the actual phone NOR does it go to that extensions voicemail.

The other question I have is how do I set my AA #2 to be the default AA for all incoming calls? The only time we want the receptionist phone to ring is when they dial 0 or when they dial the direct extension.

I have read all of the PDF manuals from Merlin and search all over the internet and cannot find anything that works so far. I checked in here dating back to last year and tried various suggestions but still cannot get anything working. Thanks in adveance.

Ben

The VMS Ports used for Merlin Messaging have to be "rotary enabled" in order to get transfers off the AA. This is done under the "extensions" menu.
Assuming your calls are coming in on analog trunks, assign those inbound trunks to be answered by AA#2 (Programming line assignments n Merlin Messaging). Also assign those lines to the VMS calling group in the Magix programming.

Thanks for the info. The Folks (2 years before I got to it)that set this up did not leave any documentation with it. How can I tell which port is the VMS. I read somewhere that it should be defaulted at 768 (thats not it) and I tried 3077 ( a calling group that was setup) and that didnt work. None of the lines or extensions are labelled other than the ones that I created.

I am assuming that 3077 is the calling group. I have already added all of my staff phones to that group. But I am have no success with the Rotary Enabled function, due to the fact that I cannot figure out which one is my VMS port.

Thanks for the help

Ben

Ben:
Print out the dial plan. The first calling group, (default 770) is usually the VMS Calling group.

If they had the phone system automatically set up the voice mail (which dosent work well by the way) It picks 7929.

Don

If you can give me the card layout, left to right, and the number of ports on the VMS, I can figure out the VMS ports for you.

Thanks
