merlin log file?

Does anybody know what the file Y!Msgr\merlin.log.old is? How is it created/updated? There is also another file in the same directory simply named "merlin". I do not use Yahoo Messenger so does this mean somebody else was using my PC and installed the program onto it? I do not see any program files that would indicate Yahoo Messenger is installed, but I do not know how the files would have gotten there otherwise? Thanks, and I apologize if this is the wrong forum - I am having a hard time finding any information on this specific file.

Hello this sounds to me like a virus and not to do with Yahoo at all. I think it may well be part of Trojan Vundo. Best to run a few tools through, Malware Bytes is quite good for Vundo in my experience. Also run through, spybot, ad-aware, windows defender, there is a vundo fixer forgotton its name but a quick search should find it. Often going into safe mode to run is the best way forward. Also get hold of hi-jack this and save the log file. If you post the details could probably tell you further if you have any infected items.
