I just purchased a Release 7 processor for an existing merlin legend system. The current card configuration is:
Slot 00 - Processor Release 7
01 - 800 CO-BRI
02 - 800 CO-BRI
03 - 008 MLX
04 - 008 MLX
05 - 008 MLX
06 - 800 CO-BRI
07 - 100D
08 - 008 MLX
09 - 008 MLX
10 - 008 MLX
11 - 008 MLX
12 - 800 CO-BRI
13 - 008 MLX
14 - 400 GS/LS/TTR
15 - 012
16 - 008 MLX
17 - Last Used
The system will not start up with this configuration. It works fine with a Release 2 processor. What am I doing wrong? Are there conflicts with the modules? Please let me know.

Their shouldn't be any confict's on the Modules, if this is used processor thre may be old programing on it that will cause a board mismatch, I presume you are going to program from scratch . so do a system erase on R7, you will need spm to do it

YES
IF you do a back up your release 2 Files then do a convert( Upgrade )To R7 Restores your programing

when I do back up on a system upgrade like your i always use 2 floppys just incase , then do a upgrade on the disc & restore from that , also when i do a restore i take out slot 1 ,so it will not anoy everyone with the riging then put it back after restore

I would remove the 800 bri in slot one and swap it with the 008mlx card so this way you have a station card in slot one. This might not be the issue but you never know.

How are you getting the translations from your old processor to your new processor?

Get a copy of WinSPM 6.0 or better and download the translations of the R2 Legend into it. Use the Convert
feature of WINSPM and upgrade your translations to the R7
release. From there you can upload the R7 translations into
the R7 processor. This only works with Legend processors
and not Merlin II processors.

I haven't had to do one in a while, but I seem to remember you had to have a R3 or better to upgrade to a R7. You might have to upgrade in steps. The last one I did gave me so many problems I ended up programming in from scratch.

Yes, you need to replace the r2 proc. with a r7 proc. The
Convert feature will let you move the translations from the
r2 to the r7. There are additional programming functions
that have to be followed up on after the update.
What kind of problems did you have????

Slot one requires a station module for the programming port.

Man, thats a lot of ISDN ports. Wouldn't PRI be cheaper???

Hope this helps...
