I recently installed/configured a 100D module in a MERLIN LEGEND Release 7.0 Version 14.2 to be used for outbound long distance calling over voice chanels on our frame relay circuit.

I was told by a service technician that the calls weren't going out over the T1 because we don't have any modules with Touch Tone Receivers? And the T1 card can't work in a system without TTR's.

Has anyone heard of this?

Thanks,
Jeff

From the Merlin Legend 7.0 Feature Reference Guide:

[blue]
A touch-tone receiver (TTR) is required either to make calls from tip/ring equipment or to use the Remote Access feature. TTRs are provided on 400 (LS), 400 GS/LS, 800 DID, 008 OPT, 800 GS/LS-ID, 016 (T/R), 012 (T/R), 412 LS-IDETR, and 016 ETR modules. Normally, these TTRs are sufficient to handle the calls originated from these modules. Additional TTRs, however, may be needed to support the following services:

[ul]
[li]Tie trunks and T1-emulated tie trunks set for DTMF signaling[/li]
[li]Tandem tie trunks and T1-emulated tandem tie trunks used in a private network (Release 6.0 and later systems)[/li]
[li]Remote Access[/li]
[li]Account Code Entry[/li]
[li] . . . [/li]
[/ul]
[/blue]

So, if your trunks are set for DTMF signalling, you will need some module installed with TTRs.

I think we need to know what kind of config your T1 is in.

Tie Line, or what?

If you can get your service provider to convert to PRI, you would not need Touch Tone Recievers.

Here's the configuration for the T1:

Slot Type Format Supp Signal LineComp
4 T1 ESF B8ZS Rob_Bit 1

All Tie - Outgoing
Toll
Out type - Wink
E+M Signaling - Type 1 Standard

We are using the Sprint T1 for data on the first 8 channels, and are now trying to use the remaining 16 channels for Sprint dedicated long distance [it saves us 30% on our LD charges].
