Merlin Legend T1 conversion to AT&T

*present carrier CTC is set for D4 /AMI
using paradyne CSU (24 channels)

*print out off trunks as follows
D4 / AMI pool 890 Members 821-844

*AT&T T1 is being used for exsisting DATA chan 1-4
and Chan 5-24 are going to be used for VOICE through
Terminal port off of Kentronics CSU/DSU
settings are B8ZS/ESF wink/wink DTMF through carrier

reprogram as follows for AT&T T1
*print out off trunks as follows
B8ZS/ESF pool 890 Members 825-844 (821-824 unused)

*The problem is : I can dial out through the T1
trunks (dial outcode of pool 890 and complete calls)
but they do not see my wink ....so they can not
complete calls through to me ....DID #'s 4 digits

*I tried removing remote dialtone as they said they heard dialtone when trying to see my wink ...the AT&T tech said he had troubles with Kentronics CSU/DSU and Legend Systems where the tech at the Legend had to put a loop up looking towards the switch and power down /up switch and unplug loopback plug ( I get a constant "yellow" alarm while plugged into AT&T T1 but I am able to call out of trunks
NOT in...tried busyout/reset/release slot with T1 with same
results ....the kicker is yellow the goes away with loopback jack looking towards switch (tells me its NOT the Legend)

*status of T1 card shows no red alarm , yellow :yes
noraml mode ...no errors

*change programming back to D4 /AMI add channels 1-4 back into pool 890 and plug back into "old "T1 all is fine
and service is restored

*has anyone had any issues with Kentronics / Legends
seeing winking ??????

*I have done many conversions , installs using Adtran,
Paradyne and INA cards but only a few with Kentronics
(on Excutone switches that only supported D4 /AMI)

When you said you put the old T1 back and service was restored, do incomming DID calls work too? If so, then maybe your DID's have not been ported over to your new T1 yet? The yellow indicates the facility is in use, that is why the loopback removed the yellow light.
I have never used anything but a paradyne when splitting off channels for data.

Hopefully a programmer will have some input.

Please let me know when you figure out was the problem was.

Yes the DID numbers were not port yet but since they could not see my wink they would not port them .....
they tried to sieze a trunk but could not ....yellow does mean its being used but I was they only one of site and
no other calls were being made .....I'm trying to get a Paradyne CSU/DSU sent to site to fool around with since
I don't have much faith in the Kentronics .

As mentioned above they said they heard dialtone when trying to call through ( removed remote dialtone as the Co Tech had asked ) this tells me they could sieze a trunk in my switch but not see a WINK ....thus not allowing a "test" call to be made.

I know its not us because if we reprogram back
to AMI /D4 and plug in "old" carrier it comes up
and accepts both inbound / outbound

As I write they are redoing the whole design
different equipment and dacs cross connects

WHAT DO WE NEED TO SEE FROM THEM SO THESE TRUNKS
RELEASE AND DO NOT GET "LOCKED"

We have a WINNER !

AT&T rebuilt the whole span on the voice side
and left the data portion alone ...they said
it was an issue with the DACS ( their words were
usage Facilities problem )this after 3 hours of
trying to explain that it was nothing wrong with
our DS1 card or Programming (I even took the CSU
out and plugged right into smartjack ....
