I have an SMDR port on my Merlin Legend and would like to capture outbound and inbound data as calls are made (mainly outbound). I don't have a cable for this port. Is this something I can get in a computer store? What kind of cable is it? Does the cable go from the SMDR port straight the the printer or to the computer. thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

The SMDR port is an RS-232 port, or serial data port. The typical, and best solution is to purchase a 355 adapter from your dealer, (protects the system) and run a plain old cat 5 cable from the Legend, to the 355 adapter. The adapter plugs into a serial port on the PC. 355 is a 25 pin, so yu may have to adapt the adapter, if your PC uses a DB9.
