Is it possible to assign a single line phone to receive and make calls on a specific trunk without the user having to dial an access code? The application is using a Legend in a residence, and there are a few single line phones that we would like to have dedicated to a single trunk line for incoming and outgoing, totally transparent to the user that they are behind the switch. I need to show the line in use on other MLX stations (Legend is in Key System mode). Basically, I want the equivalent of the old 1A2 A-Lead control on a single line set to show the line is busy on all the other key sets.

If this isn't possible, any idea how I could get the line appearance on the MLX sets to show busy when someone was on the single line set if the single line sets were in front of the Legend (the same line would also be behind the legend to appear on the MLX sets). All I'm really after is to show the line busy light on the MLX stations when in use by a single line set.

Thanks- been running all sort of scenarios on how to get this to work!

Yes, in programming you can assign the line to the extension, and then set the Auto Line Select for the extension to pick the line first.

Extensions > Lines/Trunks > [Enter Extension Number] > Entry Mode > Dial the Line Number and press Enter
(The line is assigned on the first available button after the Intercom buttons, with Immediate Ring)

Centralized Telephone Programming > Program Ext > dial the extension number and press Enter > Dial *14, press the Line Button, Dial **14

assuming no station to station dialing is required.

A 2500 set with A-Lead control on 1A2 can not access the Intercom to call other stations, so this fits the stated requirements

Just followed TouchToneTommy's instructions; worked perfectly first time, just what I wanted. I did discover two added benefits: The user on the single line set can switchhook flash and be connected to the Legend intercom (and make a station call), the outside call is put on hold and flashes on all MLX sets (works just like 3-way calling). Also, a MLX user can call the single line extension when it is not in use and talk over the intercom. Thanks for the great instructions, TouchToneTommy! Jim
