It's been a very long time since I did anything on a Merlin Legend regarding PRI's and pools. Can I assign B-channels on the same PRI to different pools? And if so, how do I assign the dial access code (9 for 70 default, 8 for pool xxx).

The end result that I would love is to have some users dial 9 to have 1 Caller ID show up and other users dial 8 to show a different Caller ID on outbound calls.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!
THANKS.

There are a couple different ways to do this. The way you are suggesting is pretty simple. Remove the amount of trunks from pool 70. Then add them to pool, lets say 890. This is done under Sys prog...start or exit..lines trunks..pools. Next, you want to change the number to send on the trunks you moved to pool 890. This is done under sys prog..start or exit..lines trunks..Pri..number to send..line number..enter trunk number..enter..enter number to send..enter..repeat as needed. Now for the tricky part, you need to renumber pool 890 to 8, so you will need to renumber everything in the system that starts with 8, including the remote access number 889 and all the trunks 801-880, your park zones 881-888 and your pools 890-899, and your LDN 800. You need to find a range of numbers that you are not using, such as 6. Renumber all your trunks to be 601-680. So on and so forth. This can be done under sys prog..start or exit..sys renumber..single..and select the objects you want to renumber. (Hint..everything that already has a number on a screen when you select it such as the LDN and remote access, just press enter to get to the part where you change the number. After all that, you can change 890 to pool 8 under system renumber. Then just add pool 8 to the phones that you need to dial 8 over. This is done under sys prog, start or exit..extensions..dial outcd..enter the extension..enter..enter the pool number 8..enter...repeat as necessary. An easier option would be to just renumber 890 to 6. That way you dont have to renumber everything in the system. Then your people can use 9 and 6 to dial out. There is another option as well using ARS. Here is the forum for that:

Hope this helps!!

I usually just renumber Pool 70 to Pool 1 and Pool 890 to Pool 2 - (as long as your extention numbering starts at something other than 1x(x) or 2x(2). I usually just start extention numbering at 500. Then do as "jinxs" mentioned to assign the outbound caller ID for the lines in Pool 1 vs. Pool 2 under PRI programming. You may need to check with your T1/PRI service provider - to make sure they will allow you to outpulse outbound Caller ID (some allow it - some have to program their switch to allow it first).

If these are two seperate companies (under one roof) with seperate employees - than I usually assign ONLY one pool dialout code per extention. So - in that case - I segregate the extentions by Company A and Company B - then under extentions, dialout code - assign either dialout code 1 or 2 to each extention. Of course - if the employees work both companies - then assign dialout codes 1 and 2 to all extentions.
